Researchers plan to pilot test selected Work Zone Intrusion Alarm (WZIA) systems in Caltrans work zones. WZIA systems will be evaluated for their effectiveness, benefits and shortcomings in real-world conditions. The goal is to see if any of the selected WZIA systems should be considered for implementation in Caltrans to protect highway workers.
