This webinar, hosted by the Institute of Transportation Engineers, will highlight approaches to traffic signal preemption and priority that are emerging in the Smart City/Internet of Things (IoT) era. Implementation of centralized applications have been burdened in the past with low bandwidth communications common in older cities. Traditional traffic signal systems were built to limit the need for always on communication, but the availability of lower cost cellular and other connectivity options present new opportunities for delivering improved service to first responders and transit agencies.
