This 4-hour workshop describes how to prepare mentally and physically to work in extreme heat conditions. You’ll learn what attitude and equipment is needed to survive the heat. You will also identify the symptoms of dehydration and heat-related injuries; describe first-aid treatments for heat exposure; explain the importance of water, clothing, and shade; describe the contents of a summer survival kit; and acquire survival tips and tricks.

Recommended attendees include managers, supervisors, safety professionals, and crew leads who need to meet regulatory requirements for training and create work/rest schedules for high heat days in specific states and under OSHA’s General Duty Clause.

Summer Survival is an elective course in the Roads Scholar Program.
