Milling is the removal of often distressed asphalt mixtures from a pavement structure. While some just see milling as the process of generating reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) which can be used in future projects, milling can also positively or negatively impact the quality of rehabilitation efforts.

The participants will:

1. Learn the different types of cutting drums
2. Understand how different cutting drums impact RAP and the quality of the milled surface
3. Identify milling best practices for ensure the paving crew has the best chance of placing and compacting a dense, smooth surface
