This 8-hour workshop will provide an overview of the basic requirements to ensure the pedestrian network along our public streets are accessible to all pedestrians. This course focuses on proper design and maintenance of accessible pedestrian facilities in new construction or when pedestrian facilities are altered or added. You will learn roadway owner responsibilities to ensure their pedestrian networks are accessible to pedestrian with various disabilities and how best to achieve that access. This course is taught from the perspective of the Public Rights-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG) in the public rights-of-way and Nevada DOT standard plans. The workshop will include outdoor field activities with manual wheelchairs, blindfolds, and low-vision googles.
