This workshop shows you how to prepare mentally and physically to work in extreme heat conditions. You learn what attitude and equipment is needed to survive the heat. You will also find out how to recognize the symptoms of dehydration and heat-related injuries, first-aid treatments for heat exposure, the importance of water, clothing, shade, survival tips and tricks and survival kits.
Managers, supervisors, safety professionals, and crew leads should attend this course as there are regulatory requirements for training and the creation of work/rest schedules for high heat days in specific states and under OSHA's General Duty Clause.
Summer Survival is an elective course in the Roads Scholar Program.
