SUMMARY:TRB webinar: Roadside Fire Risk and Prevention Strategies
DESCRIPTION:Cigarette butts\, sparking chains\, and vehicle mechanical failure all pose roadside fire risks. But you can help prevent those fires. TRB will host a webinar on Thursday\, July 7\, 2022 from 12:30-2 p.m.  Eastern that will summarize vegetation management strategies to reduce or potentially eliminate fires starting on the roadside. Chemical\, mechanical\, and manual methods can all maximize vegetation control for reducing fire risks. Presenters will also examine how to balance stormwater-treatment strategies with fire management strategies. \nThis webinar is sponsored by the TRB Standing Technical Committee on Roadside Maintenance. \nRegistration for this webinar is free. \nA recording will be sent to all registrants after the webinar.

SUMMARY:FHWA: Ultra-High Performance Concrete – Local Agency Implementation
DESCRIPTION:This first webinar will address how can local agencies benefit from UHPC P&R strategies? This venue will provide local agencies unfamiliar with UHPC an opportunity to learn how they can incorporate it into their P&R toolbox by bringing together a variety of experienced local agencies to share their successful experiences implementing UHPC for bridge P&R projects. \nDr. Zachary Haber\, PhD (FHWA) will kick off the webinar with a presentation focused on how local agencies can cost-effectively implement UHPC for bridge P&R by leveraging the resources that are available to them. \nProfessor Sherif El-Tawil from the University of Michigan will follow with a discussion on proprietary versus non-proprietary UHPC including a discussion on UHPC sourcing and material costs. Three case studies will then be presented by local agencies that have successfully implemented UHPC for bridge P&R. A representative from each agency will briefly discuss the details of their project\, reasons for choosing UHPC versus other alternatives\, and lessons learned. \nThe local agencies include: \n\nSt. Clair County\, Michigan\nBuchanan County\, Iowa\nButler County\, Pennsylvania\n\nThe workshop will end with a panel discussion. The goal of the panel discussion is to provide the audience an opportunity to ask questions and engage with our experienced panelists.

SUMMARY:FHWA: Advanced Project Bundling–A Reference for Getting Started
DESCRIPTION:Bridge and project bundling utilize economies of scale to deliver projects more effectively. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) expects bundling to enhance delivery of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). So if you are interested in bundling transportation projects but don’t know where to begin\, please join this peer exchange as FHWA rolls out a new resource guide\, “Advanced Project Bundling – A Reference for Getting Started”. You will learn about the importance of bundling practices and how to use the Reference’s information and tools provided. \nThe guide gives States\, local public agencies\, and tribal nations information to consider when implementing advanced project bundling for all funding sources. Topics covered will include why advanced project bundling should be considered; advanced project bundling practices; organizational self-assessment; getting started with planning\, budgeting\, and funding; and creating agency business rules\, processes\, and procedures for consistently selecting effectively bundled projects. The document includes case studies\, tools for agencies\, and checklists.
