SUMMARY:ITS America: Vehicle to Everything (V2X) Accelerator Phase I Progress\, Insights\, and Lessons Learned Series - Utah DOT (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Vehicle to Everything (V2X) Accelerator Phase I Progress\, Insights\, and Lessons Learned Series – Utah DOT\nDate: August 25\, 2026\nTime: 11:00 am to 12:30 pm PT\nCost: Free\nContinuing Education Credits: Unknown\nOrganization: ITS America   \nProject team members from Utah and Colorado will share an honest account of what Phase 1 of this multi-state Connecting the West V2X initiative delivered\, including lessons learned and next steps. Since receiving a $20 million federal grant in June 2024\, UDOT has been leading a large-scale V2X deployment effort alongside the Colorado and Wyoming Departments of Transportation. During Phase 1\, the project team designed\, built\, and tested connected transportation infrastructure across a 1\,200-mile corridor\, deploying applications including LiDAR detection\, snowplow signal preemption\, and Traveler Information Messages. This session will cover the Systems Engineering process that guided deployment\, real-world performance insights from the field\, key lessons learned\, and what comes next heading into Phase 2. This webinar is open to transportation professionals\, technology partners\, researchers\, and anyone with an interest in connected and automated transportation.

SUMMARY:Ohio LTAP: Investigation of Pavement Performance in Historically Under-Performing Regions (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Date: August 26\, 2026 \nTime: 10:00 – 11:00am \nOver the last couple of decades ODOT has experienced pavement performance that significantly underperforms statewide averages\, in some regions\, for decades. These issues were believed to be primarily caused by poor quality aggregate sources in these regions. District 3 (D3) has experienced the worst historical performance\, but other districts in the region have experienced similar issues as well. Additionally\, many counties adjacent to D3 experience lower performance that is masked when looking at district-wide performance. There have also been complaints of early raveling that may be linked to the same issue. These are likely being exacerbated by other factors such as design practices\, poor-quality control\, poor construction practices\, lack of proper inspection\, lack of proper QA\, etc. Ohio has very different geology across the State and certain Districts only utilize the local materials within their region. Current aggregate specifications need examined to determine their contribution. As noted below\, ODOT has studied these issues in the past and implemented changes to the program that have not resulted in the desired outcome. Due to the cost of pavement performance loss\, further research is warranted to determine the root cause(s) of the regional issues and assess the cost/benefit of any potential changes to ODOT standards and specifications. The objectives of this research include the following: 1. Identify the root cause(s) of poor performance trends in regions of Ohio. 2. Determine the financial impact to ODOT of the performance loss. 3. Develop prioritization of root causes. 4. Recommend methods to eliminate root causes or to moderate root cause effects on performance. Consider how the use of new or emerging technologies could benefit current and future root cause elimination efforts. 5. Develop a cost-benefit analysis with a sensitivity analysis for each proposed method. 6. Develop methods to verify the effectiveness of eliminating or controlling those root causes.

SUMMARY:Ohio LTAP: A Field Evaluation of Perpetual Pavement Concept (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Date: August 27\, 2026 \nTime: 10:00 – 11:00am \nThis project will construct a perpetual pavement using Highly Modified Asphalt (HiMA) and validate the perpetual pavement concept in real world conditions by instrumenting and collecting data on a roadway in Ohio. ODOT is interested in the best way to utilize HiMA (i.e.\, asphalt base only\, surface and intermediate only\, or full depth asphalt buildups). The goal of this research is to design\, construct and monitor Ohio’s first perpetual pavement built with HiMA. The results obtained are expected to provide the Office of Pavement Engineering with a model for future design\, as well as the confidence needed to roll out additional designs for perpetual pavements as conditions warrant. The results of this research will: 1. Incorporate the HiMA material into the design and construction to evaluate its cost effectiveness and constructability. 2. Investigate the perpetual pavement design software/concepts as it applies to the perpetual pavement design using the HiMA material. 3. This research has the potential for significant savings for ODOT and the taxpayer.

SUMMARY:National Operations Center of Excellence (NOCoE): Monitoring and Reporting on Performance of Traffic Management Systems (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Monitoring and Reporting on Performance of Traffic Management Systems \nDate: September 8\, 2026\nTime: 10:00 am to 11:30 am PT\nCost: Free\nContinuing Education Credits: 1.5 PDH credits\nOrganization: National Operations Center of Excellence (NOCoE) \nThis webinar will focus on Monitoring and Reporting on Performance of Traffic Management Systems. \nPerformance monitoring\, evaluation\, and reporting is an essential task for TMS as they help determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the system. In order to provide useful performance information\, it is important to define the subsystems\, functions\, actions\, and services of a TMS that needs to monitored\, evaluated and reported on. In addition it is important to specify the scope of the TMS performance monitoring and reporting. These may include: \n\nTMS asset performance (e.g.\, number of system failures within a period of time\, detector communication performance\, etc.).\nTraffic impact performance (e.g.\, section travel times\, section average speed\, section throughput\, etc.).

SUMMARY:Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE): Decide and Provide - Vision-Led Planning and Trip Generation (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Decide and Provide – Vision-Led Planning and Trip Generation\nDate: September 17\, 2026\nTime: 9:00 am to 10:00 am PT\nCost: Free\nContinuing Education Credits: 1 PDH/CM credit\nOrganization: Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE)   \n\nThe world\, and transportation with it\, are changing in ways that are difficult to predict. However\, our transportation planning and development tools rely upon forecast-led paradigm of “Predict and Provide.” In combination with car-centric performance standards\, a Predict and Provide approach can result in the over-provision of highway capacity and under-provision of active transportation infrastructure\, making it more difficult to meet community goals for safety and livability. Rather than a Predict and Provide approach\, this webinar showcases a “Decide and Provide” approach to transportation planning that is vision-led\, access-focused\, and uncertainty-savvy. While still drawing upon trip generation data associated with previous land-use developments\, this vision-led approach also considers the influence of development design and the need to accommodate uncertainty in judging what transport provision is suitable for supporting access to employment\, goods\, services and opportunities for the communities concerned.
