DESCRIPTION:Nevada LTAP hosts this 2-day course (8:00 am–4:00 pm PT)\, from November 30–December 1\, 2021. \nNational Highway Institute (NHI) 131139 introduces asphalt pavement construction best practices\, from the importance of understanding project administration roles and responsibilities to the most vital elements of laydown operations and compaction. Participants learn contract administration techniques\, recognize proper construction practices\, identify construction issues and their source\, determine the impact of construction issues on performance\, and select communication strategies for contractors\, consultants\, and superiors. They can then apply the knowledge and skills to maximize quality on construction projects. \nThe importance of a proactive approach to managing and inspecting construction projects is emphasized at every stage. This includes quickly addressing problems\, implementing corrective actions\, and documenting communications between the agency and contractor. \nThis course is eligible as a substitute for the NVLTAP Road Scholar elective course\, Asphalt Paving Technology & Maintenance. \nThis course is designed for participants who ensure a project is built to the owner’s specifications. Participants can be relatively new to asphalt or general project inspection. SUMMARY:Every Day Counts (EDC) webinar – Targeted Overlay Pavement Solutions: Crack Attenuating Mixtures and High Performance Thin Overlays
DESCRIPTION:Interest from New Jersey DOT\, research performed by Rutgers University\, and cooperation from suppliers and contractors\, has turned HPTO into the “work horse” of the NJDOT pavement preservation program. Since 2015\, NJDOT has used HPTO on more than 1\,000 lane miles to seal pavement and improve ride quality. Agency staff say it causes minimal impact on traffic with short road closures\, and adds approximately 10 years service life. \nNJDOT uses HPTO to keep up with increased traffic demands without adding depth to the pavement. This is significant because the Department of Environmental Protection rarely allows the agency to raise road elevations. NJDOT uses HPTO in areas with vertical clearance concerns\, guardrails\, and curb and gutter. Including performance requirements for the mixture\, successful construction practices\, and requiring the project engineer to approve specifications\, are believed to be key factors in the success of HPTO as a pavement preservation tool in New Jersey. DESCRIPTION:This workshop provides an overview of the available technology and tools that make implementing an effective asphalt pavement rehabilitation program feasible. A successful pavement rehabilitation program encompasses a full range of rehabilitation strategies as well as maintenance treatments\, with the goal of enhancing pavement performance (ride\, quality\, safety\, service life\, etc.) and life (LCC\, pavement durability). \nThe workshop has recently been updated to provide attendees with the most current information\, tools\, and technologies. It offers guidance that can be used throughout the project development process\, giving agencies the information they need to successfully select\, develop\, and construct the best rehabilitation process for their selected roadways.

DESCRIPTION:This 2-day course is scheduled for March 8\, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm PT through March 9\, 8:30 am – 3:00 pm PT\, 2022 \nA state-issued license to control pests and apply pesticides is required under Nevada state law. Licenses are issued by the Nevada Department of Agriculture. You must complete a general competency exam and a category exam prior to obtain the license. \nThis 2-day training prepares you to become a professional pest control applicator and pass the license examination. The class explains pest control and pesticide safety concepts. Topics include safe pesticide handling practices\, herbicide classification\, environmental protection\, and noxious weed control. It also prepares you for the G-4 (Terrestial Weed) category examination. \nThe training program is approved for Nevada Continuing Education Units (CEU’s). For license renewal\, twelve credit hours are required in a 4-year period. \nAttend this class if you prepare\, store\, handle\, or apply pesticides or supervise those who use pesticides.
