SUMMARY:National Operations Center of Excellence (NOCoE): Monitoring and Reporting on Performance of Traffic Management Systems (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Monitoring and Reporting on Performance of Traffic Management Systems \nDate: September 8\, 2026\nTime: 10:00 am to 11:30 am PT\nCost: Free\nContinuing Education Credits: 1.5 PDH credits\nOrganization: National Operations Center of Excellence (NOCoE) \nThis webinar will focus on Monitoring and Reporting on Performance of Traffic Management Systems. \nPerformance monitoring\, evaluation\, and reporting is an essential task for TMS as they help determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the system. In order to provide useful performance information\, it is important to define the subsystems\, functions\, actions\, and services of a TMS that needs to monitored\, evaluated and reported on. In addition it is important to specify the scope of the TMS performance monitoring and reporting. These may include: \n\nTMS asset performance (e.g.\, number of system failures within a period of time\, detector communication performance\, etc.).\nTraffic impact performance (e.g.\, section travel times\, section average speed\, section throughput\, etc.).

This webinar will explore trail economic impact typologies using a case study of a developing trail. Through our work with the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) Trail and Parkersburg to Pittsburgh (P2P) Trail\, Fourth Economy identified and cataloged nearly 50 trail impact studies\, informed from a variety of sources\, including American Trail’s Impact of Trails Hub.  Through this database\, Fourth Economy developed trail typologies\, distinguished by length\, economic impact\, visitor spending\, jobs supported\, and more. Clear patterns emerged distinguishing economic impacts between Regionally Significant Trails from High Impact\, Destination Trails.

SUMMARY:Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE): Decide and Provide - Vision-Led Planning and Trip Generation (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Decide and Provide – Vision-Led Planning and Trip Generation\nDate: September 17\, 2026\nTime: 9:00 am to 10:00 am PT\nCost: Free\nContinuing Education Credits: 1 PDH/CM credit\nOrganization: Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE)   \n\nThe world\, and transportation with it\, are changing in ways that are difficult to predict. However\, our transportation planning and development tools rely upon forecast-led paradigm of “Predict and Provide.” In combination with car-centric performance standards\, a Predict and Provide approach can result in the over-provision of highway capacity and under-provision of active transportation infrastructure\, making it more difficult to meet community goals for safety and livability. Rather than a Predict and Provide approach\, this webinar showcases a “Decide and Provide” approach to transportation planning that is vision-led\, access-focused\, and uncertainty-savvy. While still drawing upon trip generation data associated with previous land-use developments\, this vision-led approach also considers the influence of development design and the need to accommodate uncertainty in judging what transport provision is suitable for supporting access to employment\, goods\, services and opportunities for the communities concerned.

SUMMARY:National Distracted Driving Coalition: Distracted Driving - Keeping First Responders Safe at Crash Scenes (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Distracted Driving – Keeping First Responders Safe at Crash Scenes\nDate: September 29\, 2026\nTime: 11:00 am to 12:00 pm PT\nCost: Free\nContinuing Education Credits: Unknown\nOrganization: National Distracted Driving Coalition \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDistracted driving is a significant public safety threat for all road users\, including first responders managing crash scenes. Wherever they occur\, crash scenes are a first responder’s place of work\, and we need to assist them in performing their duties by keeping them safe. Their efforts not only provide victims with the immediate care they need and families with the answers to help them move forward but also help prevent the additional loss of life. Many communities employ Community Risk Reduction (CRR) programs using data-driven education\, engineering\, and enforcement to prevent crashes\, reduce injuries\, and protect both drivers and emergency responders on local roadways. \nThis webinar shares information about three core strategies to support CRR: public education opportunities; data tracking\, and enforcement & policy. Presenters will present tools and available resources for effectively partnering with local schools (K-12) as well as driver education programs to host prevention activities and teen driver safety programs. Opportunities for using local crash data and/or telematics platforms to identify high-risk areas and times for distracted driving incidents as well as options to supporting local high-visibility enforcement and strict hands-free driving laws will be shared. Strategies available to first responders to increase their safety will also be discussed. \n\n\nFor more information about this training\, click here.\nLink: https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_n7oTehqwTd6QtFfgR0nURw#/registration
