SUMMARY:Slope Stability & Erosion Control: Bioengineering\, Nature-Based Solutions\, and Structural Approaches (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Overview \nA five-session webinar series co-hosted by AnyWay Solutions with the World Bank and the International Road Federation (IRF Global)\, offering practical guidance on building climate resilience into road infrastructure in developing countries. The series spans the full spectrum of resilience practice\, from policy and economics through drainage\, slope stability\, materials\, data\, and rehabilitation. \nSlope Stability & Erosion Control: Bioengineering\, Nature-Based Solutions\, and Structural Approaches\nSlope failures and erosion are among the largest drivers of road closures and asset losses in climate-vulnerable regions. This session covers the full spectrum of solutions — from structural engineering to bioengineering and nature-based methods — with an emphasis on approaches appropriate for LMICs that offer co-benefits for communities and ecosystems.

SUMMARY:University of Minnesota\, Center for Transportation Studies: Sidewalk Nation - From Public Space to Local Practice (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Sidewalk Nation – From Public Space to Local Practice\nDate: October 28\, 2026\nTime: 10:00 am to 11:00 am PT\nCost: Free\nContinuing Education Credits: 1 PHD credit\, 1 CM credit\nOrganization: University of Minnesota\, Center for Transportation Studies   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSidewalks are some of our most familiar public spaces\, but they serve a surprisingly complex range of uses and users. From walking and rolling to dining\, gathering\, commerce\, and other activities\, these shared spaces can also be the site of competing needs and priorities. \nIn this webinar\, Michael Pollack\, author of “Sidewalk Nation\,” will explore the many roles sidewalks play in our communities\, the conflicts that can arise over their use\, and the legal and regulatory systems that shape how they are managed. He will also discuss how cities\, towns\, and residents might rethink their approach to these important public spaces. \nLillian Prybil\, associate transportation planner with the City of Minneapolis\, will offer a local perspective\, reflecting on these issues through her work with parklets\, street cafes\, walking and rolling\, and other public realm initiatives in Minneapolis. \nFor more information about this training\, click here.\nLink: https://www.cts.umn.edu/events/seminars/2026/sidewalks

SUMMARY:National Association of Development Organizations (NADO): Tribal Transportation Public Engagement Peer Exchange (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Tribal Transportation Public Engagement Peer Exchange\nDate: October 28\, 2026\nTime: 11:00 am to 12:00 pm PT\nCost: Free\nContinuing Education Credits: Unknown\nOrganization: National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom grant requirements to planning efforts and simple information gathering\, we have all done public engagement at one point or another. However\, there are often barriers that make public engagement more difficult than expected. Hear from Tribal transportation and planning professionals who have performed successful tribal-led public engagement about how they did it and what advice they can give from their experience. \nFor more information about this training\, click here.\nLink: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/oekgFHxEQUy4j4Zp7u72BQ#/registration

SUMMARY:Center for Pedestrian and Bicyclist Safety (CPBS): Travel Behavior as a Road Safety Strategy - How Exposure is Influenced by Land Use and Infrastructure (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Travel Behavior as a Road Safety Strategy – How Exposure is Influenced by Land Use and Infrastructure\nDate: October 28\, 2026\nTime: 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm PT\nCost: Free\nContinuing Education Credits: Unknown\nOrganization: Center for Pedestrian and Bicyclist Safety (CPBS)  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar examines how exposure to kinetic energy introduced by motor vehicles influences road safety. The presentation covers a variety of geographies with a specific focus on a recent paper that explored 227 urban areas in 45 US states. The relationship between exposure-based measures—including automobile mode share\, vehicle miles travelled (VMT)\, and commute time—and motor vehicle occupant\, pedestrian\, and bicyclist fatalities is explored while controlling for other transportation and socioeconomic factors. Findings suggest that improving road safety requires not only reducing crash severity and conflicts but also reducing the underlying exposure to kinetic energy in the road system in the first place. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor more information about this training\, click here.\nLink: https://www.pedbikesafety.org/webinars
