SUMMARY:National Operations Center of Excellence (NOCoE): Active Interchange Management (AIM) (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Active Interchange Management (AIM)\nDate: November 19\, 2025\nTime: 10:00 am to 11:30 am PT\nCost: Free \nContinuing Education Credits: 1.5 PDH credits\nOrganization: National Operations Center of Excellence (NOCoE) \nThis webinar is part of a FHWA Office of Operations project to present information on active interchange management (AIM). AIM encompasses a variety of operational strategies to improve traffic flow and safety at freeway interchanges. AIM is a modern approach to traffic management that focuses on optimizing the flow of vehicles at interchange merge and diverge areas and ramp terminals\, where congestion and safety issues often originate. The webinar will describe AIM\, the strategies that are included\, and potential benefits. It will also discuss the situations under which AIM may be applicable and some example locations where AIM has been implemented. It will also present a methodology that can be used to determine which AIM strategies may be useful for subject interchange areas. Finally\, potential challenges in implementing AIM strategies will be discussed.

SUMMARY:Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP): Partnering for Grants Greatness - State-Level Bike-Ped Innovations (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Partnering for Grants Greatness – State-Level Bike-Ped Innovations\nDate: November 19\, 2025\nTime: 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm PT\nCost: Free \nContinuing Education Credits: 1 AICP CM credit\nOrganization: Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP) \nMore funding is currently available to plan and build infrastructure for our most vulnerable road users (VRU) than at any point in history\, yet local governments and advocates consistently cite lack of capacity as a major roadblock to understanding\, applying for\, and administering grants. These issues compound in underserved communities\, where resources such as matching dollars\, planning and grant-writing expertise\, and familiarity with opportunities are typically scarcer than they are elsewhere. Our panel discussion begins with a brief overview of technical assistance and education programs that already exist in two very different states: California’s established Active Transportation Resource Center and Georgia’s nascent Grants Assistance Program (GAP). We’ll cover the basics of both programs\, including formative history\, internal funding and operational practices\, services \, and focus on underserved communities through Justice 40\, the Thriving Communities Program\, etc. We then move on to the highlight of the session: a deep-dive discussion of how to set up similar programs in other states\, including best practices\, successes and challenges\, and lessons learned from California and Georgia. We’ll engage the audience with questions on existing conditions in their own states\, common hurdles to fulfilling local needs\, and proven recipes for a winning approach.
