SUMMARY:FHWA: HSIP Applications of Probe Data\, Safety Surrogates\, and AI
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, June 24\n10:00 am to 12:00 pm PT \nPURPOSE \nRecent advances in safety data sources and analysis techniques have improved the ability of transportation agencies to plan\, implement\, and evaluate highway safety improvements. This webinar will feature noteworthy applications of probe data\, safety surrogate data\, and artificial intelligence to improve safety on public roadways. \nPRESENTERS \n\nBonnie Polin\, Massachusetts DOT will present on how they used speeding telematics data and probe telematics data to develop community-level pilot efforts targeting speeding and distracted driving.\nRon Knezevich\, Georgia DOT will present on their use of video data collection and safety surrogates\, including Post-Encroachment Time\, Time-to-Collision\, and Pedestrian Compliance\, to assess VRU risk and the effectiveness of VRU countermeasures.\nJeff Roecker\, Pennsylvania DOT and Shannon Warchol\, Kittelson & Associates will co-present on their SMART Intersections pilot program\, which used video data\, AI\, and Post-Encroachment Time to identify vehicle pedestrian critical events and human-review process to confirm the occurrence of a conflict.\n\nTARGET AUDIENCE \nState\, regional\, and local transportation agencies responsible for planning\, implementing\, and evaluating the HSIP as well as those responsible for collecting and analyzing safety data.
