DESCRIPTION:In recent years the amount of data that can be obtained from traffic signal systems has been greatly increased with the introduction of data logging software in controllers and through external devices. This can be used to derive many different analytical tools\, called Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPM)\, for monitoring and evaluating signal timing and detector maintenance. This presentation will give both an introductory background on what ATSPMs are\, the requirements for implementing the technology\, and some example use cases including an update on related research activities in Iowa.
