February 1, 2024 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am| $20
The overall Road Safety Champion Program provides a high-level overview of road safety in the United States through seven modules.
The goal of Module 4–Overview of the MUTCD provides an introduction and overview of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). The MUTCD defines the standards by which traffic signs, road surface markings, and signals are designed, installed, and used on all public streets, highways, bikeways, and private roads open to public traffic. This module will help participants become aware of the need for uniformity of traffic control devices, its legal requirements, and related liability. Emphasis will be given to an understanding of the MUTCD, Traffic Control Devices, and Temporary Traffic Control. The overall goal of this training is to provide participants with an overview of the manual and how to use it.
By the end of the virtual training, participants will be able to:
- Understand the purpose and the organization of the MUTCD
- Understand the purpose of Traffic Control Devices (TCDs) and identify their five principles
- Describe the fundamental principles of Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) and list the four components of the TTC zones
